What Is a TPM 2.0?
TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) is a security chip that stores encryption keys at the hardware level and is one of Windows 11's official installation requirements.
TPM underpins security features like BitLocker encryption, Windows Hello and boot integrity. Most computers after 2016 have it in hardware or embedded in the CPU (fTPM / Intel PTT), though it may ship disabled in BIOS.
To check yours, run Windows + R → tpm.msc; if disabled, enabling the fTPM/PTT option in BIOS is usually enough.
