Windows Server Standard Licenses

The Windows Server Standard Licenses category is where you'll find genuine keys for Microsoft's standard server operating system — ideal for businesses running a single physical server. It supports every core server role you need: file/print sharing, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, IIS web hosting and small-to-mid-size business applications.

Standard is a great fit for specific scenarios: a small business setting up file and print sharing for a 10-50 person office, an IT team deploying Active Directory for user and device management, or an SME running accounting or inventory software on a single server. If your virtualisation needs stay within 2 VMs, you don't need to pay for Datacenter's extra capacity.

Which version should I choose?

We stock five versions, from 2012 R2 through 2025. For a new server deployment, Windows Server 2022 Standard or Windows Server 2025 Standard are recommended for their current security features and longest support window; 2022 also brings Azure Arc integration and enhanced SMB encryption, while 2025 ships with secured-core protections enabled by default. 2019 and 2016 remain widely used where existing applications or hardware need compatibility with those releases; 2012 R2 suits specific scenarios where legacy, business-critical systems must be kept running.

What does the 2-VM right actually mean?

A Standard licence covers the host operating system plus up to 2 virtual machines — three environments in total on one physical server. If you need more virtual machines, you can stack additional Standard licences on the same server (each one adds 2 more VMs) or move up to Datacenter, which offers unlimited virtualisation. Perpetual licence, not a subscription

The Windows Server Standard key you buy from Karınca Lisans is a perpetual licence. Unlike Microsoft's cloud-based CSP or Azure subscription models, you pay once and your key remains valid indefinitely on the server where it's activated. Most Windows Server editions also carry downgrade rights, letting you install an earlier version within the same product family — for example, a 2022 Standard licence lets you install 2019 or 2016 — which is valuable if your applications or drivers need an older release.

Delivery and activation

Your key is usually emailed within 1-90 minutes of payment confirmation. Once delivered, you must activate it on your server within 1 day (24 hours); activation is a one-time event, and the same key cannot be reused if you later reformat the server. We recommend finalising your installation plan before purchasing. Once activated, your licence remains valid for the life of that server. Every purchase includes an e-invoice for your corporate accounting — just provide your company name and tax ID at checkout.
