Windows Activation Error
0xC004F041: KMS host itself is not activated
0xC004F041 means the KMS host the client reached has not yet been activated by Microsoft; an inactive host cannot activate clients. This is entirely a server-side issue, solved by IT activating the KMS host key. On a home PC it shows the machine is accidentally on the KMS channel.

- The KMS host key has not been activated on the server
- The KMS host was reinstalled and never re-activated
- A home PC installed from a volume image is reaching a fake or wrong KMS host
- A pirated KMS tool emulates an inactive host
Step-by-step fix
- Home users: install the genuine key with "slmgr /ipk KEY" in an elevated Command Prompt and activate with "slmgr /ato".
- Verify with "slmgr /dlv" that the channel is no longer VOLUME_KMSCLIENT.
- Corporate environments: the IT admin activates the host on the KMS server with "slmgr /ato" (phone activation is also possible).
- Once the host is active, retry on the client with "slmgr /ato".
- If a KMS tool was used, clean its leftovers and run a full scan.
