Windows Activation Error
0xC004C060: Product key blocked by Microsoft
0xC004C060 means the activation server has flagged the key you entered as blocked. The key may have been abused in the past, revoked, or distributed through an unauthorised channel. Nothing on your PC can fix it; you need a replacement key, ideally from an invoiced seller.
Most common causes
- The key has been revoked (blacklisted) by Microsoft
- The key was distributed to many people through an unauthorised channel
- The key is counterfeit or generated by a keygen
- Rarely: a temporary status error on the server side
Step-by-step fix
- Re-enter the key carefully by hand; mixing up B and 8 or O and 0 can produce the same code.
- Try again after a few hours — temporary server-side states clear on their own.
- Try phone activation via Windows + R → "slui 4"; a blocked key is rejected there too, which confirms the diagnosis.
- Send the error code to the seller you bought the key from — sellers who issue invoices replace blocked keys.
- Enter the replacement key under Settings → System → Activation → "Change product key".
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any way to use a blocked key?
No. The block lives on Microsoft's server and cannot be bypassed by local settings, reinstalling or tools. "Unblock" utilities found online are a security risk.
Why was a key that used to work blocked now?
Microsoft can revoke abused keys retroactively. That is why buying from an invoiced seller matters: you have a right to a replacement.
