Support Status — An Honest Note

Microsoft ended extended support for Windows Server 2012 R2 on 10 October 2023 (the paid Extended Security Updates programme runs to 13 October 2026). The system keeps working and your licence stays valid for life, but no standard security updates are published. We recommend this product only for legacy applications that require 2012 R2, older hardware and isolated networks that are not exposed to the internet — for internet-facing production servers choose a current release such as Windows Server 2022 Standard.
