SQL Server Licenses

SQL Server Licenses products

The SQL Server Licenses category is where you'll find genuine Microsoft SQL Server Standard edition keys for running your business's database workloads. It's built for IT teams that need a relational database engine behind an ERP, CRM, accounting package, e-commerce back-end or custom enterprise application.

Note: SQL Server is a separate product that installs on top of the Windows Server operating system and does not include an OS licence. If your server doesn't already have an operating system, you'll need a Windows Server Standard or Datacenter licence first.

SQL Server Standard is a great fit for specific scenarios: a mid-size business running its accounting or ERP package on a relational database, a development team building a custom web application that needs one, or an organisation with modest reporting and business-intelligence needs. Organisations with very large data volumes or advanced high-availability requirements may be better served by the Enterprise edition.

Which SQL Server version fits which need?

SQL Server 2019 Standard is the current, recommended choice for new deployments, with Big Data Clusters support, in-database Java integration and Intelligent Query Processing improvements. SQL Server 2017 was the first version to support Linux and adds graph database features and adaptive query processing — a good fit for mixed Linux/Windows infrastructure. SQL Server 2016 remains a widely used, well-balanced release with Always Encrypted, Query Store and built-in JSON support. SQL Server 2014 suits organisations that need compatibility with older applications or have hardware/driver constraints.

What does the Standard edition include?

SQL Server Standard covers the core database engine, basic business intelligence (Reporting Services, Analysis Services), backup/restore, and basic high availability (Basic Availability Groups). That's enough for most small-to-mid-size business applications. Organisations with very large data volumes, advanced high availability needs (Always On) or advanced security requirements may need the Enterprise edition instead — if you're not sure which you need, reach out via our WhatsApp support line before you buy.

Perpetual licence, not a subscription

The SQL Server Standard key you buy from Karınca Lisans is a perpetual licence. Unlike Microsoft's cloud-based Azure SQL subscription models, you pay once and your key remains valid indefinitely on the server where it's activated. SQL Server also carries downgrade rights within the same product family, so if your application was tested against an older release, you can still take advantage of that flexibility.

Delivery and activation

Your key is usually emailed within 1-90 minutes of payment confirmation. Once delivered, you must activate it on your server within 1 day (24 hours); activation is a one-time event, and the same key cannot be reused if you later reformat the server. Once activated, your licence remains valid for the life of that server. Every purchase includes an e-invoice for your corporate accounting — just provide your company name and tax ID at checkout.
